A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor school girl at a resort in Madh Island in suburban Malad, police said today.

The accused identified as Pritesh Doshi, who has criminal background, was nabbed yesterday from his residence in Malad, police said.

According to police, the 13-year-old victim, a VIII student of an international school, was roaming in Charkop market with her friend when an auto rickshaw stopped before her and the accused emerged from it.

"Doshi told the girl that her father asked him to take her to the doctor. Believing him, the victim got into the auto rickshaw and he took her to a resort in Madh island," a senior police officer said.

Her friend narrated the incident to the victim's mother who approached police and lodged a complaint saying that an unknown person kidnapped her daughter.

"After two hours, the victim returned home in an auto rickshaw and narrated that she was taken to a resort in the island and was raped by the accused," police said.

When we showed her the pictures of criminals in the police station, she identified Doshi following which he was arrested from his residence, police said. "The victim was taken to police hospital in Nagpada for medical examination," the officer said.
