According to the police, Chandrabhan started living with his mother at their Karve Nagar residence in Kanjurmarg after he had a fight with his wife while he was staying in Nashik. Following Chandrabhan’s arrest, his father who was bedridden died due to prolonged illness last year, after which Jijabai shifted permanently to her village in Khed.
Jijabai now stays with Sanap’s first daughter who is 11 years old; she had come to Mumbai on Monday for the judgment. “I had come with Sanap’s daughter to Mumbai only for the judgment. I will go back now,” she said.
Falsely implicated
Jijabai said, “My son was staying at Nashik since the past three years with his third wife and child before he got arrested. He was working as a driver with a private company.
Even during the time of the incident, he was in Nashik and not here. He was falsely implicated in the case. He is not a person who can rape or murder anyone. He was very good by nature. Even his wife says that.”
‘Lost my husband’
During investigations, the police had recovered Esther Anuhya’s clothes from Chandrabhan’s Kanjurmarg residence. Explaining the recovery, Jijabai said, “The clothes and other things that police recovered from the house belong to my granddaughter and not Esther. I don’t want him to be punished, as I want him to come home and take his daughter with him.”

When asked whether she has visited the court for Chandrabhan's hearing, she said she had visited the court only twice. “I lost my husband who took this incident as a shock. Now I stay with Chandrabhan's daughter in the village. I do farming and get rent from a house in Mumbai which I spend for my living.”
Sanap has been married thrice in the past. His first wife had died while the second had run away from him. Sanap could not get along with his third wife as well, and due to frequent fights with her, he kept shuttling between Mumbai and Nashik.
