According to the police, the main control room got a call yesterday afternoon. The caller said he had seen three men carrying AK-47 rifles and getting into a taxi near Dadar, central Mumbai.
The police mobile vans in the area were immediately alerted, and the taxi was intercepted in Matunga-Kings Circle.
One Ramesh Shripati Shinde, who was riding in the taxi alongwith two others, was found to be carrying six rifles. They were brought to the police station.
However, at the station, police realised rifles were in fact dummies. Shinde said they were heading to Pune for a film shoot.
Shinde works in Movie Action Dummy Effect Association and possessed a license for carrying fake arms, police said. He and others were allowed to go after the inquiry.
