Dahisar police find that the accused had seen the deceased with bundles of cash, killed him after getting him drunk and then fled to Bihar

The Dahisar police, which are investigating the murder of a businessman at his rented house last month, have arrested a security guard of a hotel where the deceased had stayed before renting the flat. Police nabbed Rahul Ramnath Sharma, 20, from Bihar on Monday night, and his relative, a co-accused in the case, on Tuesday.

Manish Bhai Patel, 38, was a pharmacist from Gujarat and had rented a flat in Dahisar. His flat owner told police that he visited the flat on Sunday, because Manish did not respond to his calls for three days. When his knocks on the door went unanswered, he opened the flat and found Manish's body in a pool of blood, and informed the Dahisar police.
According to police, Manish was murdered on Thursday. The accused were identified with the help of the footage from the CCTV cameras installed around the residential building. While examining the footage, police spotted two men with bags and started an investigation. They traced the duo to Bihar. A team of Dahisar police travelled to Bihar and took Rahul into custody on Monday night. Police arrested his accomplice on Sunday and was in the process of bringing him to Mumbai. They have not given his identity yet. During interrogation, Rahul admitted to killing Manish with the help of his relative, police said.
Got him drunk, then killed
Rahul, the security guard, became acquainted with Manish when the latter stayed at a hotel for some time. Police said that during his stay, the deceased made an impression that he was a very rich person and would drink with the accused. During their drinking sessions, the accused had seen bundles of cash with Manish.
Rahul and his accomplice visited Manish at his rented flat thrice after he moved there. His accomplice plotted to kill Manish to make quick bucks. On Thursday, the duo bought liquor from a shop in Dahisar and visited Manish. They got the businessman drunk then the accomplice hit him in the head with a vase, leading to his death, police said. Police said that they had found a bag at the murder scene, in the CCTV camera footage, the two accused were seen carrying that bag.
