Navi Mumbai Police rescued two child labourers from two different eateries in the city, an official said on Wednesday. The official told news agency PTI that they found the children were employed at the eateries during a routine inspection on Tuesday. The two eateries are located at a vegetable market in the Vashi area of the city.

The official from the APMC police station further told the news agency that the children were allegedly made to hard labour work, harassed and given inadequate remuneration for the work they did.
The two minors have been lodged in a remand home after being rescued, the official said and added that a case has been registered against the owners of the two eateries under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Meanwhile, in another case from the township, the police arrested seven persons for allegedly cheating a 37-year-old man of Rs 60,000 under the pretext of providing for providing foreign currency in return. According to a report by PTI, the incident happened on February 23 in the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai.
According to assistant police inspector Pawan Nandre's statement to PTI, the accused called the victim, a mobile repair business owner from Kurla in adjacent Mumbai, at a lodge in Vashi, offering him US dollars in return for the Indian money. He added that although the complainant had given the accused persons Rs 60,000 they did not provide him with foreign currency in return.
Following the complaint, the police arrested seven persons, who hail from Jharkhand, on February 24 and they were booked under Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
A police official told PTI that two more accused are absconding and efforts to trace them are underway.
In another case, the Navi Mumbai police arrested a 24-year-old engineering student and a vegetable vendor in connection with the seizure of LSD valued at Rs 7.95 lakh, reported PTI. Lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD, is a synthetic chemical-based substance that falls within the hallucinogen category.
Following a tip, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the police stopped the vehicle the 23-year-old vendor and the student were travelling in, on Tuesday. Neeraj Chowdhary, ANC senior police inspector stated that the unit found 53 LSD blots totalling 1.32 grams inside the car, PTI report further added.
The police also seized the car and two mobile phones recovered from the accused--residents of Panvel, the report added. Initial investigation revealed that the vendor had obtained the contraband from the student. Reportedly, the cops have identified the source of the contraband and will be making additional arrests involved in the drug trafficking network.
Under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Panvel Town police have filed an FIR against the two individuals, reported PTI.
