They grabbed the bull by the horns and booked the organiser, Kiran Mhatre. Fortunately, no action was taken against the birthday boy, a four-legged bovine beauty, called Shahenshah. Nearly 100 people were at the party for Shahenshah the bull, or ‘bail’, who probably did not anticipate or even understand it.

A live stream link had gone viral on social media, in which maskless people were seen celebrating Mhatre’s bull’s birthday. It was held at Motha gaon, Reti bunder on March 11 and there was no physical distancing and music was played till late night during the celebration. The cops found a stage was also set for dancing.

“We inquired and found that Kiran Mhatre, a resident of Dombivli (West), Motha Gaon, Reti bunder, had arranged the birthday party inviting 100 people for it. No COVID-19 safety rules were followed during it,” said Senior Inspector Sanjay Sable from Vishnu Nagar police station.

Police cut the bull and the offence was registered in Vishnu Nagar police station under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.
