Mumbai Police arrest youth from Dahisar, seize 33 stolen phones worth Rs 7 lakhs

Mumbai: Colaba police arrested an alleged offender after discovering 33 stolen phones at his residence. The incident came to light on October 8 when a complainant approached the police to file a report.

The Colaba police arrested an alleged offender after discovering 33 stolen phones at his residence. The incident came to light on October 8 when a complainant approached the police to file a report.


"The complainant reported that he had gone to Sassoon Docks to buy fish when an unknown person stole his phone and fled from the scene. Based on his statement, we filed an FIR," stated an officer.


The police reviewed CCTV footage in the area and, with information from reliable sources, apprehended MD Varis. Based on Varis's statement, they determined that a minor was allegedly involved with him, and the minor has been sent to a remand home.


The alleged offender, Varis, has been placed in police custody as 33 phones worth Rs 7 lakhs were found at his residence in Dahisar.

MD Varis (19) was booked under section 379 (Theft) of the Indian Penal Code, and further investigation is underway.
