Omprakash Raju Tiwari was arrested from Titwala where locals know him as a wedding and event photographer

The Malad police have arrested a 23-year-old photographer from Titwala on the charge of demanding sexual favours from an aspiring model and releasing her intimate photos on social media after she refused to give in.

The police said accused Omkar, alias Omprakash Raju Tiwari would identify himself as a casting director and a photographer attached to a big production house
that has made several blockbuster movies.

He would steal photos of top models and actors from the internet and upload them on his social media pages claiming he had shot the pictures. “This way, a lot of aspiring models used to get in touch with him,” said an officer from Malad police station.

The 22-year-old complainant, who hails from Bengal, told the police that she came to Mumbai to make a career in films. “She was impressed with Tiwari’s profile and got in touch with him online,” said the officer.

The woman said Tiwari promised to get her work in the production house. “Tiwari asked the woman to send a few bold photographs of her. Once she did that, he began demanding sexual favours from her saying he would make the photos viral. When she refused to give in to his demands, he actually released the photos on social media,” said the officer.

After the woman filed a complaint on January 8, a team comprising senior inspector D Ligade, API Vivek Tambe and their colleagues Ashok Konde and Tauseef Shaikh traced Tiwari to his home at Swami Samarth Nagara in Titwala on Sunday. Locally, he is known as a wedding and event photographer.

Ligade said they have booked Tiwari under the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.
