A History-Sheeter decided to spend some time playing with his young son, but instead of toys he chose bundles of cash. Shams Ali Sayyed aka Johnny went ahead and uploaded a video of them playing with the cash on his social media account. The Dongri resident soon realised the blunder he had committed and deleted the post, but the realisation came too late. Some social media users had already downloaded the video and shared across social media platforms, making it viral. Shams, who got anticipatory bail, has once again come to the notice of police. The joint commissioner of police (law and order) has instructed a senior officer to verify the video.

Police said Shams, 23, entered the world of crime at the age of 16 years and currently faces charges for offences like chain snatching, robberies, cheating and attempt to murder. Police sources said he has inherited his criminal background from his family. His father Sameer Ali Sayyed alias Diggy, also has many cases against him, most recently for running over five people at Crawford Market in September 2020. Diggy allegedly lost control of his car and rammed it into Cafe Janta.

Shams had got anticipatory bail in a case related to the attempt of murder of one Taha Dosa at Babula Tank. He attacked Dosa with a knife on May 7, after which JJ Marg police filed an FIR and arrested him and his partners Majid Khan and Nasir Khan, all of whom got bail. Narrating the incident, Dosa said it was the month of Ramadan, and he had returned from his job around 11 pm and went to get bread at a bakery near his house. He was talking with his friend Danish Supariwala there when Shams came and started abusing him. He threatened Dosa and told him not to come near this ground. He returned with three others and attacked Dosa with a knife. Dosa sustained severe stab wounds on his face. He said, “The day the court approved his bail, those people burst firecrackers and celebrated it.”

When contacted, JJ Marg police station’s Senior Inspector Subhash Borade told mid-day that they have challenged in the high court the bail granted to the three accused by the sessions court.
