Two robbers were arrested by Samta Nagar police on Friday for robbery and attacking policemen with a blade.

The incident took place at 2:30 am when the two brothers, identified as Rohit Kaparla (23) and Babu Kaparla (21), were trying to rob an idli seller. While they were trying to flee on motorcycle, two on-duty police constables from Kurar police station apprehended them. On seeing the policemen, the two siblings left their two-wheeler and ran towards Samta Nagar police station.

After being caught red-handed by the police, the duo fled to Samta Nagar police station and accused the constables of assaulting them and robbing their motorcycle. "The police started searching for the robbers not suspecting that they would have entered the police station after committing the crime," said a police officer.

When the police officers were in the process of registering a complaint, they received a wireless message about two robbers who have escaped and the description matched the complainants.

"We immediately contacted the Kurar police officers and detained the two brothers," the officer added.

However, after their lie was caught and when they were being arrested, the brothers pulled out blades from their pockets and attacked the constables of Samta Nagar police station. The duo tried to escape but was intercepted and arrested.
