The incident came to fore when Kalpana Mehta (60) approached Pydhonie police station to file a complaint against her brother-in-law.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Kalpana and her husband, Arvind Mehta (72), were residing in a room in Pydhuni area. The dispute arose as Jamandas Mehta objected to the couple staying at the place since the property is under the ownership of their mother.
On January 21, after having dinner Mehta went to sleep. Jamandas allegedly woke up, approached Arvind with a blade, and threatened him, questioning their right to reside in the house. A violent altercation ensued, leading Jamandas to attempt to slit Arvind's throat. Kalpana woke up by Mehta’s cries for help, and intervened, resulting in injuries to her hand.
