In a significant development, the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) Kandivali Unit in Mumbai has apprehended a major Charas supplier. A substantial quantity of 5.131 kilograms of high-grade Charas, valued at a staggering Rs 1.57 crore, has been confiscated.

The operation unfolded when ANC's Kandivali unit received critical intelligence on Monday regarding an individual engaged in the illegal sale of Charas in Andheri East. Acting swiftly upon this tip-off, ANC officials swiftly organized a raid on a residence in Andheri East, resulting in the apprehension of Hafizur Rehman Abubakar Shaikh (aged 55). During the search, a substantial stash of 5.131 kilograms of Charas was seized.

Shaikh was promptly arrested and subsequently brought before the court, where he was remanded into police custody until October 10. Authorities are currently delving into Shaikh's criminal history, aiming to uncover the origins of the Charas he was found in possession.

“Accused had been actively involved in the distribution of Charas to illicit drug peddlers. This apprehension marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against narcotics in the region.” Said DCP ANC, Prakash Jadhav.
