A team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 4,824 Tramadol tablets weighing 2.613 kg as part of a courier consignment near Golden Palace Hotel in Kurla (West) on Sunday, said an NCB official.

The consigner of the consignment, Mohd Anas, was arrested by a NCB team in Delhi on Monday.
Tramadol is a psychotropic drug which is medically prescribed as a pain killer also. It is a schedule 'H' drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and can only be dispensed under the prescription of a registered medical practitioner. But over past few years, its abuse as intoxicating drug had been noticed. Due to which it was added to Schedule of psychotropic substances to NDPS Act, 1985 in the year 2018.
Anas has been apprehended for contravention of Sections 8(c) r/w Section 21(c), Section 23 (c), 27A, 28 and 29 of NDPS Act 1985. He is a suspected criminal in four cases of NCB Mumbai.
Further investigation is underway.
