On Friday night, the Kherwadi police apprehend 27 sports bikers for engaging in illegal bike racing activities on Western Express Highway in Mumbai. The bikers were allegedly involved in betting on races, operating from Kherwadi Junction at Bandra East to Vile Parle Milan Subway.

The Kherwadi police seized 27 sports bikes. The cops also discovered that many of the bikers had modified their bikes and silencers. All bikers were arrested and produced in court on Saturday. The Kherwadi Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) and commenced an investigation into the matter.

According to the police, they received a tip-off regarding a group who fixed racing on the Western Express Highway (WEH). Acting on this information, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dikshit Gedam, from zone 8, assembled a dedicated team.
Under the guidance of DCP Gedam, Senior Inspector Rajendra Mulik of Kherwadi police station mobilised the team. The team rushed to the spot and caught the bikers red-handed and seized their bikes.
A police official from Kherwadi police station said, "All the bikers apprehended are aged between 18-25 years. They were racing on the Western Express Highway, exceeding speed limits. All the accused have been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for participating in racing activities."
