In two distinct and unfortunate incidents, two people tragically lost their lives in accidents in Naigaon area of Palighar in Maharashtra, the police said.

According to the police, a 27-year-old accountant identified as Pratima Yadav lost her life on Bafana Bridge when her dupatta became entangled in a Bullet motorcycle.

As per the Naigaon Police, Pratima and her husband Manish Kumar were journeying homeward after visiting the Triguareshwar Mandir. Seated on the pillion seat of the Bullet motorcycle, at 7:15 pm, Pratima's husband noticed her fall on Bafana Bridge on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway. Swiftly halting the vehicle, he, along with the assistance of locals, rushed her to Sanskriti Hospital. Regrettably, the attending doctors declared her deceased upon arrival.

According to the police, her dupatta became entangled in the motorcycle's second tire, leading to her fall on the bridge and resulting in a severe head injury. This tragic incident occurred on August 21.

Pratima's husband, 33-year-old Manish Kumar, is a resident of Kandivali's Iraniwadi and works as a video editor. He is currently grappling with profound trauma following his wife's sudden demise, as conveyed by a police officer.

In an another incident, 27-year-old Pooja Gupta lost her life on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway on August 18.

As recounted by the police, the incident transpired on August 9, when Pooja Yadav and her brother-in-law Deepak Yadav were en route to Waliv to commemorate Pooja's sister's birthday. However, Deepak's bike encountered a pothole on Bhafana Bridge, causing Pooja to fall from the motorcycle.

Suffering multiple head injuries, she initially received medical treatment but ultimately succumbed to her injuries on August 18.

The police elaborated that Deepak lost control of his bike while descending from the bridge, failing to discern the pothole, which precipitated the accident. Pooja sustained head injuries and was undergoing treatment at Platinum Hospital.

The Naigaon police station has lodged Accidental Death Reports for both incidents and is actively investigating the circumstances.

When interviewed by Mid Day, Pratima Yadav's husband, Manish Yadav, recounted, "I accompanied my wife for Darshan at Trungasreshwar Mandir. Yet, on our way back home, I realized she had fallen from the bike. I rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead."

"Her dupatta became entangled in the bike, leading to her fall. I urge all women in society to take care of their dupattas and saree pallus to prevent mishaps," he added.
