Even as no information on the whereabouts of former top cop Param Bir Singh continues to be a matter of concern, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Thursday said they have intelligence about him having fled the country. However, he said they were trying to connect with the Union home ministry to gather information about him. Patil added that they will initiate disciplinary action against Singh if he has left the country without permission.

While interacting with the media on Thursday, Patil said that either Singh was not in the country or he was hiding somewhere in India. “We are searching for him. If he has left the country then it is a matter of serious concern. We are trying to connect with the Union Home minister to collect more information,” Patil said.

He further said, “We have inputs that he may have left the country. We have already issued a look out circular against him. Being a government officer he cannot leave the country without the government’s permission. If he has left then we will soon initiate disciplinary action against him as per the provisions of the law.”

mid-day on Wednesday published a report that Singh has not been responding to the summons issued by NIA. As he is a suspect in the Antillia explosives scare and Mansukh Hiran murder cases, the agency has found multiple evidences against him and has been looking for him to get clarity. The Maharashtra police are also investigating multiple cases of corruption and extortion against him, for which cops visited three locations, but he wasn’t available at any of them.
