Maharashtra crime: A suspect, accused of rape, who had been on the run for the last 10 months, was reportedly arrested by the police in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said on Friday, reported the PTI on Friday.

According to the news agency, acting on a tip-off, the Thane Police on Thursday arrested Pram Shinde from a chawl in Umbarli village of Dombivili town in the district, the official said.
The main accused Sumit Sanjay Lobh and Pram Shinde had allegedly kidnapped a girl from Sangameshwar in Ratnagiri district in January, and the former raped her, senior inspector Naresh Pawar told the PTI on Friday.
An offence was registered against the duo under sections 363 (kidnapping), 376(2) (n) (repeated rape) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
While the main accused was arrested soon after, Shinde had remained absconding since January, senior inspector Suresh Gavit of the Sangameshwar police station said, as per the PTI.
Meanwhile, the Palghar Police in Maharashtra have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl from his neighbourhood, an official said on Thursday, according to the PTI.
The news agency on Thursday reported, Senior inspector Suresh Kadam of the Wada police station said that they are looking for another accused who is on the run.
The teenager and the accused are residents of a chawl and know one another, he said, as per the PTI.
The girl was alone at her home on Wednesday when the two accused arrived and allegedly raped her, the official said.
On her complaint, the police registered a rape case against the two men under the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official added, as per the PTI.
In an another incident earlier this week, the Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old man from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (earlier Aurangabad) for allegedly raping and extorting money from a woman whom he had met through a dating app, an official said, according to the PTI.
