The customs officials at the Mumbai airport have seized drugs worth rupees 47 crores and arrested two Indian nationals under the NDPS act.

The officials said that they seized heroine worth rupees 31 crores, concealed in document folders and cocaine worth rupees 16 crores, concealed in clothes and bags.
Giving details, the officials said that a passenger landed at Mumbai Airport in Kenya Airways from Johannesburg via Nairobi and was intercepted based on passenger profiling.
“The passenger was followed right from the flight and was intercepted after he crossed the green channel. He was found carrying 4470 grams of Heroin, concealed in 12 document folder covers. Thin layers of Heroin packed in polythene covers were placed inside these folder covers.”

The illicit market value of the seized Heroin is approximately Rs 31.29 Crores.
In another incident, a passenger landed at Mumbai airport in Ethiopian Airlines from Addis Ababa, who was intercepted. During the scanning of his baggage at green channel, the officials detected suspicious images with green tinge in buttons.
“The buttons appeared to be excessive in number and were placed unusually close to each other on the clothes. The passenger was diverted for detailed baggage check and was found carrying 1596 grams of Cocaine with illicit market value of approximately Rs 15.96 Crore, the officials said.
Both the passengers have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
