The Gholwad police have arrested two people in the murder of a 43-year-old businessman. The killers, allegedly, threw the body on the tracks to make it look like an accident. But, when cops began to probe the death, they discovered that it was a murder.
Sources said Dahanu-based fishery owner Vandesh Agri’s body was found next to the railway track near Chikle railway station, on Monday. The Gholvad police nabbed two accused, identified as Rohan Aka Babu aka Ravindra Rathod and Pradeep on Tuesday and they confessed to the crime.

They said Agri had given Rohan money as he had wanted to repair his fishing boat, but Rohan had not returned the money. Agri used to frequently call him about it and on Sunday evening Rohan called Agri to Chikle station saying he wanted to give him the money. There, he and Pradeep killed him. They also hid Agri’s bike.
“After Agri’s body was found, his elder brother, Dharmesh, approached us and told us that a day before Agri had told him he was going to meet Rohan who had promised to return his money,” a Gholvad police officer said. “We have arrested the duo. The court has remanded them in police custody,” the officer added.
