Thane: The Manpada police in the district have arrested a 25 years old man for the alleged murder of a bar girl.

Jayesh Shravan Patil, resident of Dativali village, was arrested two days ago and remanded in police custody till tomorrow by a local court.

He is accused of murdering his girlfriend Deepika Sikdar (24), a bar girl, and disposing of her body in a jungle near Bhimashankar in Pune district.

As per the police, he revealed during the interrogation that on November 2 he called Deepika to his house where he stabbed her to death, and drove with the body in an alto car to Bhimashankar next day with his friends Mithun Mhatre and Bhagwan Dhule.

They burnt the body at an isolated spot.

DCP S B Jadhav told the reporters today that the case came to light when senior inspector G S Randive received a tip off about the girl's murder on December 2.

Deepika's sister Sevika Parimal Sikdar told the police that Deepika alias Priya was in love with Jayesh, and she had disappeared a few weeks ago.

The police picked up Jayesh, who showed the police the spot where the body had been disposed of. Police recovered Deepika's remains and also the knife used in the crime. Search is on for Jayesh's two friends.
Police are yet in the dark about the motive behind the murder.
