Road rage in Delhi: Man shot dead at point blank range

A 25-year-old factory owner was killed in Delhi after a UP businessman shot him with a pistol at point blank range on Sunday night. The incident took place after a dispute over their SUVs scraping against each other in Delhi's Dallupura area.

According to a report in the Times of India, the accused, Yashpal, runs a property business. He was driving a Ford Endeavor with a VIP number plate. The victim, on the other hand, was coming back from a nephew's wedding. He was in a borrowed Toyota Innova.

The victim's cousin, Sukhbir, who was driving the Innova, told Times of India that the Endeavour came from the opposite side and brushed against their car while turning left sharply. The victim, Deepak Bhadana was sitting in the rear seat and screamed at Yashpal to be careful.

The TOI reported added Sukhbir as saying that Yashpal was visibly drunk, and abused Deepak. An argument ensued, after which he stopped his car, came towards the Innova and attempted to drag Deepak out by his collar. Deepak, however, resisted. Shockingly, Yashpal then pulled out a pistol and fired at his ear. He later ran back to his car and drove off.

The TOI report went on to say that Sukhbir attempted to revive Deepak, but he had died by then. Some family members who were travelling with Deepak tried chasing Yashpal on foot, but he sped away. According to the report, Deepak was a resident of Faridabad and owned a factory producing cow fodder.

Yashpal was arrested from Noida afterwards. He was tracked down through his vehicle’s VIP registration number. Police have recovered a licenced revolver from him, the report further stated.
