Nashik: Unidentified persons broke into a shop here and decamped with Rs 4 lakh cash and 50 boxes of costly cigarettes worth about Rs 30 lakh, police said today.

The thieves apparently arrived in a tempo and broke open the shutter of ITC's distributor shop in Malegaon locality yesterday, Panchvati police station in-charge Shantaram Avasare said.

The miscreants made the CCTVs dysfunctional and then looted the cash and cigarette boxes, he said. The thieves also tried to remove their finger prints with a wet cloth, he said.

A dog squad and finger print experts have been pressed into service to identify and nab the culprits, he said.
