A Mumbai-based software engineer was robbed by two bike-borne assailants when she was walking her brother’s friend to her house in Koregaon Park. The incident took place on Sunday night when the unidentified duo snatched Subira Deshpande’s (34) purse containing her mobile phone, SIM cards and cash, worth a total of Rs 32,000.

Speaking to mid-day, Subira’s brother, Amar, said, “My sister was visiting me from Mumbai over the weekend. We had planned to go out for dinner in a restaurant in Koregaon Park. One of my friends who lives in Koregaon also accompanied us. After dinner, since my sister and I had come on a bike, Subira decided to walk my friend till her house and I drove ahead to her place. After some time, I received a call from my friend, who told me that two men on a motorbike had snatched my sister’s purse and fled.”
Police Inspector Subhash Anirudh, in-charge of Koregaon Park police station, said, “The incident took place around 11.45 pm on Sunday. Two men on a bike came from behind and snatched the woman’s purse. We are trying to gather information about the suspects from eyewitnesses and scrutinising CCTV footage of the area.”
