A college-going girl in Uttar Pradesh today hanged herself in her classroom as she was being allegedly harrased by a local youth for more than a year.
A college-going girl, allegedly being harassed by a local youth for a year, today hanged herself in her classroom in Sitapur, police said.

The girl, identified as Prateeksha, was a Class 12 student and was being harassed by a youth from the same locality.
A spokesman of the local police said that a school peon when locking rooms spotted the girl hanging from the ceiling of her classroom.
The incident took place at the Arya Inter College within the Kotwali police station jurisdiction. The principal of the college called the police and later the family was informed.
The girl's father alleged that a boy named Aman was harassing his daughter for the past one year.
The boy would phone her and stalk her, the father told the police and accused them of not paying heed to the family's complaints in the past.
Sitapur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) BB Singh said that the cops were probing the girl's death and that action would be initiated against the guilty.u00a0
