Thane: A woman has lodged a complaint against her friend for allegedly stealing gold jewellery and cash collectively worth Rs 15.70 lakh from her residence in Mumbra township of the district, police said today.

Ravina Patil (45), resident of a housing society in Mumbra, has lodged a complaint against Naseem. As per the complaint, Ravina had gone to Naseem's place for lunch yesterday and after the meal, she fell asleep in the accused's house.


While she was sleeping, Naseem took away the keys of Ravina's house from her purse, went to her house and stole jewellery worth Rs 3.40 lakh and some cash, the complainant claimed.

An offence under Sections 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking) and 380 (theft) of the IPC has been lodged and investigations are in progress by the local police. No arrest has been made in this case, police said, adding that further probe is on.
