In one more shocking incident of attack on policemen in Bihar, a cop was shot dead by four unidentified bike-borne assailants in Bihar’s Gaya district, early on Monday morning.

According a report in Hindustan Times, Mohammad Qyamuddidin, station house officer of Kothi police station, lost his life between 5 am-6 am when he was taking a routine morning walk on the Gaya-Kothi Road. This is the second deadly attack on cops in Bihar in the last 10 days.

Sources told HT that some men came on a motorbike and accosted Qyamuddidin. Following a quarrel, they opened fire on the police officer. Post the shooting, the assailants escaped into the forests.

Gaya senior superintendent of police (SSP) Garima Malik confirmed the incident. “Three to four armed criminals chased the SHO while he was on his morning walk and shot him dead. The police have launched a manhunt and all the border areas have been sealed. We have launched a massive vehicle-checking in the bordering areas of the district,” the SSP told HT.

According to some reports, Qyamuddidin had received threats to his life in the past. He had nabbed over a dozen criminals during his stint at Kothi police station. Late last month, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, Ram Raj Chaudhary, was killed in the Fatuha police station area on the outskirts of Patna.
