As the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine teaser sets the community abuzz, fans give us a peek into their first impressions and predictions

Marvel’s Deadpool is one of those superheroes who might just pull even the staunchest naysayers who insist they are “too old for superhero movies” to catch a first-day-first-show screening. Kick-ass action, tongue-in-cheek monologues and Ryan Reynolds’ signature fourth-wall breaking acts; what’s not to love? Disney and Marvel’s recent teaser featuring the superhero alongside X-Men’s Wolverine has opened the floodgates to fan theories, predictions and towering expectations.
Here’s what’s brewing in the fan community.

Slated for success
The recent trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine makes it seem like Deadpool will indeed end up being the Lord and Saviour of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The fourth-wall breaking anti-hero is going to be the most interesting character to get involved in the universe and timeline-hopping spree that we have been watching ad nauseam in recent years. Logan was supposed to be the conclusion of Wolverine but will partner Deadpool in the upcoming movie. It begs the question — What do you get when you combine the forces of two anti-heroes? I, for one, don’t care whether they improve or ruin the cinematic legacy of Marvel because I am confident that it will be a bloody and merry ride.

Multiverse of possibilities
One aspect I’m particularly eager about is how the movie might connect to the Time Variance Authority from the Loki series. I’m hoping we see time-travel shenanigans, alternate timelines, or unexpected cameos from other Marvel characters. Also, the idea of bringing the X-Men into the fold of the main Marvel plotline will be something to watch out for as one of the characters (Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X) has already been seen before in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. We could have a multiverse mayhem where Deadpool and Wolverine have to tag-team against a threat that’s messing with reality itself. We would like to see alternate versions of our favourite heroes, mind-bending twists, and enough action to keep us glued to our seats.

Just the tip of the iceberg
The teaser is a nod to some fan theories that had been doing the rounds leading up to it. For instance, a scene features a 2015 Secret Wars #5 comic, which might mean Doctor Doom, who features as the antagonist in the comic appears as a villain in the movie as well. Another fight sequence in the teaser is from Avengers: The Age of Ultrons that opens the floodgates to more crossovers. I am looking forward to how an unhinged Deadpool blends with a stoic Wolverine. It’s almost like a Vikram and Betal pairing. One thing I can say for sure is it’s going to be raining cameos. If some theories are to be believed, Daniel Radcliffe might play a younger Logan and Taylor Swift is to take on the role of Dazzler. Let’s wait, watch, and hope for some reveals in upcoming teasers and trailers.
