Started in 2020, Pen, Paper and Scissors is a platform that encourages puzzle-based gaming activities  by designing products and games in a creative manner.  “I am a visual learner, and I  loved solving puzzles since my childhood. After acquiring a degree in computer science, I began my career in the IT and cyber security industry. But my personal aspiration encouraged me to set up Pen, Paper and Scissors,” shares founder, Reena Pradhan.

With the aim to create interesting puzzles by developing a creative combination of different formats like riddles, pattern-guessing, word puzzles, logic puzzles and crosswords, Pradhan and her team organise gaming events online. “I believe, people in India are not exposed to the different kinds of puzzles available across the globe. These events allow participants to solve  different sets of puzzles within a given timeframe,” she adds. This month’s edition is named, Fight the Coronavirus. Participants collect seven ingredients, to develop a vaccine,  by cracking seven different puzzles. Then, they   submit those ingredients to the research centre to get the reward.

Puzzles help in building different skill sets like  problem-solving, logical thinking, patience, attention to details and team work, says Pradhan.  “It is one of the best ways to upgrade skills in a fun and creative manner,” she explains.

Pradhan explains that puzzles are conventionally assumed to only be suitable for children, “We need to exchange that thought process. In fact, our games are suitable for anyone above 12 years. It is designed such that enthusiasts can come together to play and, thus, interact with each other,” she signs off.
