Celebrities stepping out of glitzy seven-stars to launch a look will forever be a favourite moment. All-round star Selena Gomez recreated this moment once again in Paris last week. Dressed in what fashion experts are calling the French entrepreneur or French business outfit, Gomez looked chic as ever in a grey blazer with matching tailored culottes, a powder blue open shirt over a white corset and boxer shorts with the waistband showing.

This was paired with block heel mules, a slick ponytail and oversized yet simple gold jewellery. It is a well-styled outfit that everyone can sport whether you prefer a feminine or a masculine look, and Mumbaikars can easily use the essential pieces from Gomez’s look to recreate their own. Celebrity stylist Divyak D’Souza breaks down three looks that you can try out and create your own fashion moment.

“This is the perfect investment look because all of the separates can be mixed and matched, they are easy to re-wear and can be broken down into distinct looks. The look also has very versatile colours,” D’Souza continues, “For starters, to create from this one style where I would like to use three pieces to play around with — the blazer, the boyfriend shirt and the tailored culottes.”

Pair the blazer with a sexy crop top or bralette, and wear it with a pair of high-waisted baggy boyfriend jeans. “This gives us a chic urban city look. I like the idea of dressing down a formal blazer and making it a bit casual,” the stylist notes.

Steal his shirt
D’Souza tells us that the oversized boyfriend shirt is a staple workwear piece. He suggests tucking the shirt into a pleated skirt and wearing it with a pair of brogues. Carry a few leather accessories and layer up with trinket-like jewellery. “Here we offset the masculine with the feminine and create an overall androgynous, yet very feminine look,” he adds.
Wear the pants
“For the culottes, infuse colour into the look because grey is neutral and can get washed out. It has the potential to be complemented well with neon,” D’Souza remarks. He would pair the grey culottes with a neon tank top and sneakers to keep it athletic and sporty. Try adding a baseball cap, gold chunky jewellery or a watch and a small handbag to this look.

Inspired by the visible boxer shorts waistband in Gomez’s look, let your baggy boxers peek through from your trousers or skirt. Pair it with a crop top and an open oversized shirt. Or wear the boxer shorts silhouette in a different fabric and pair it with a half-buttoned shirt.
