Hullabaloo Children’s Studio, or as founder Kripa Kotak calls it — a playground for the kid’s brain, is hosting a Diwali-special workshop on Wednesday. Here, 67-year-old candle-maker Veena Upoor will teach children to give a modern and personalised twist to their traditional gifts.

“I founded this space in March this year. Here, some of the best educators in the city curate a range of weekly classes, one-off workshops and special events for kids. Recently, we shifted to a larger space with rooms dedicated to music and movement, arts and crafts, and even dance and aerial yoga,”

Kotak tells us, adding that the inspiration behind opening this space was her daughter, and lack of extensive creative spaces in the city. Open for anyone above the age of eight, the workshop will teach participants to make scented candles based on their choice of fragrance.

“We will teach them how to make their signature fragrance, and pour the resultant soy wax blend into a metal urli,” says Upoor, who studied under famous candle-maker Gary Simmons in Nice, France. “Till the candle takes shape, I will teach them how to wrap gifts in the famous Japanese Furoshiki style, which requires no extra material, and is one of the most eco-friendly methods of gift-wrapping.”
