City chefs Raveena Taurani and Vikram Arora have created a limited-edition menu of gluten-free, refined sugar-free and vegan Indian treats

City chefs Raveena Taurani, founder and plant-based chef at Khar’s café Yogisattva, and Vikram Arora, founder and chef at Santacruz’s Tamak restaurant, are giving the city’s health-conscious foodies a new twist to their daily fare.

The duo has combined their talents — Arora’s knowledge of Indian spices with Taurani’s healthy vegan methods — to craft a new menu that is free of gluten, dairy, meat and refined sugar. “People often say that gluten-free and vegan foods come with no options. I like to challenge that idea by bringing in chefs like Arora who have an open mind,” says Taurani.

The menu includes takes on classic dishes like dal makhani and ker sangri, and also features dessert kulfi and panna cotta. “Besides the gluten-free and vegan aspect, Taurani did not give me the option to deep fry these items either, so you can gauge the amount of effort that has gone to make this menu nutritional yet delicious,” Arora says.
