There has been an increase in alternative shopping options with an impetus on sustainability during the lockdown, and many small businesses have been able to showcase their wares in market spaces, thanks to innovative fleas that have also sprung up in this period.

Travel company Moonstone Hammock will be hosting a flea market for small businesses at Shelu, Karjat. “The possibilities of networking, branding, marketing and sales are important to these businesses that have been thriving online,” shares Megh Doshi, co-founder of Moonstone Hammock.

The event will offer eco-friendly products, bath and body essentials, art curios and artisanal desserts for the attendees to explore. There will also be a hula-hoop workshop and live music. “Although we were initially restricting the numbers to 10 stalls, we might increase the number based on inputs. This is encouraging, and we are more than happy to help these small businesses in their endeavour,”

shares Doshi. He assures that all steps will be taken to ensure it remains a safe event. “Many have been in dire straits due to the pandemic,  and these platforms can help put the focus on innovative and sustainable shopping,” Doshi signs off.
