In the spirit of Pride Month, Mumbai-based NGO The Humsafar Trust is hosting their first-ever One World International Queer Film Festival, a three-day free virtual event in collaboration with the US Consulate General in Mumbai and the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. Over three days, the event will showcase four documentary features and five short films, from American filmmakers, which portray the social and legal hurdles faced by queer communities.

“We plan to make this a recurring event. The objective of the festival is to screen and bring films from across regions to showcase the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community and their identities. Many challenges faced by queer communities across the world are similar so we wanted to bring forth these topics and see what lessons can be learnt for the movement in India as well. This year we will be sourcing films from the US,” says Tinesh Chopade, advocacy manager at The Humsafar Trust.
