This weekend, a Sobo venue will come alive with an event called World Fest, whose aim is to bring people together so they can all take one step together towards a range of charitable causes.

The event itself is a medley of musical and dance performances, with celebrity mixologist Ami Shroff also billed to show off her flairing skills. The musicians include American saxophonist George Brooks, who combines Indian classical elements with traditional jazz idioms. That’s something city musician Louiz Banks is known for as well, and the two of them will come together on stage for a fusion performance that will also have Kathak danseuse Sheetal Kolwalkar matching her footwork to their rhythm.

Isheeta Chakravarthy, who will be on vocal duties, says, "I am basically another instrument in the ensemble [which also includes Gino Banks on drums and Satyajit Talwalkar on tabla]. Louiz and George Brooks will take turns leading with their sections, and you can also expect a sawaal-jawaab between Gino and Satyajit."

The other musicians in the line-up are Rajasthani folk artistes The Manganiyar Brothers and Bollywood representatives Salim-Suleiman.

On Sunday, 12 pm to 10 pm
At Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
