Sweet and spicy, extra spicy, pudina flavoured, dry puri with tamarind chutney — how many flavours of pani puri have you tried? If you can count them on your fingertips, here’s a three-day festival that will remedy that, because it aims to offer more than 20 different kinds of pani puris. Presented by R City, mid-day’s The Grand Pani Puri Fiesta is a first-of-its-kind food festival post the pandemic, and promises to be a haven for pani puri-lovers.

Mumbai’s chatpata street snack is the star attraction at the festival
Apart from dahi puri, teekha pani puri, regular pani puri and pudina-flavoured ones, there will be chocolate pani puri, ice-cream pani puri, pizza pani puri, gelato-inspired pani puri, rasam-laced puri, and multi-flavour pani puris including mango and orange punches. And if that’s not all, there will be fun games for participants such as pani puri pyramid, pani puri human transporter, pani puri juggling challenge and spoon and puri, among several other contests. For each game, winners will take home gift hampers.
Rasam and chocolate
The Grand Pani Puri Fiesta will also host a flea market with around 50 stalls offering items spanning home decor, accessories, fashion, pottery and more. Organised by Solitaire Events, the festival will feature a line-up of live performances and a kids’ zone. In terms of safety precautions, the venue, R City, will abide by government rules and only fully vaccinated people will be allowed entry. The event space, too, has been designed to account for social distancing, and the chefs serving pani puris will be suited up in safety wear.
