Friendship Day is just round the corner and you all must be making last minute plans. If you and your friends are planning to celebrate Friendship Day indoors over some interesting dishes and unique recipes, then try out Red Velvet Dhokla. This is an interesting alternative to the regular Khaman Dhokla. Grab the ingredients from the market, get in to the kitchen, try the recipe with your friends and remember the fun-filled cooking season for years to come.


If you are thinking how to make a Red Velvet Dhokla, then here is the recipe for you.


Ingredients
1. Gram flour sieved- 2 cups
2. Yogurt beaten - 2 cup
3. Salt- As per taste
4. Green chillies- 1
5. Ginger - 1 tablespoon
6. Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoon
7. Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
8. Soda bicarbonate – 1 tablespoon
9. Mustard seeds – 1 tablespoon
10. Fresh curry leaves - 2 tablespoon
11. Dry red chilli powder - 2 tablespoon
12. Fresh jalapenos - 2 tablespoon
13. Amul cheese - 2 tablespoon
14. Mozzarella cheese- 1 tablespoon
15. Beetroot puree - 1 cup

Method
1. Take gram flour in a bowl. Add yogurt and approximately one cup of warm water to make a batter. Ensure that lumps are not formed while making the batter. Add salt and mix again.
2. Leave the mixture aside to ferment for three to four hours. When gram flour mixture has fermented, add turmeric powder and green chilli-ginger paste and mix well. Heat the steamer and grease a thali.
3. In a small bowl take lemon juice, soda bicarbonate, one teaspoon of oil and mix the ingredients well. Add it to the batter and whisk briskly. Add beetroot pure to mixture. Pour batter into the greased thali and place it in the steamer.
4. On the other side, make mixture of Amul cheese spread , fresh chopped jalapeno and mozzarella cheese.
4. Cover with a lid and steam for ten minutes. Cool it for a while and cut into equal parts horizontally. Spread cheese mixture and close it again.
5. Then cut in to squares and keep in a serving bowl or plate.
5. Heat the remaining oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds once the oil is perfectly heated. When the seeds begin to crackle, remove and pour over the dhoklas.
6. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
