If you’ve missed the outdoors, here’s a list of cosy cafes that are open for dine-in and which offer outdoor seating across the city

As another phase of unlocking gets implemented, cafes are cautiously reopening across the city with safety measures in place. Restaurants in Mumbai are allowed to remain open for dine-in during the weekdays till 4 PM as per the latest guidelines. If you’ve been waiting to grab a cup of coffee or dig into some sizzling food outside the confines of your home, we have handpicked some of the city’s cosiest cafes where you can indulge in al fresco dining and soak up the outdoors. 


Relax under the trees

A mainstay of the city’s cafe scene, Prithvi Cafe is the ideal place to head to if you are looking to unwind. Sit under the canopies, while you work on a sketch and sip on some Kadak Chai (INR 24) or Prithvi’s famous Irish Coffee (INR 140). The cafe also offers juices and tempting varieties of muffins.

Friday brunches

The Daily all Day Mumbai is known for serving an extensive multi-cuisine menu, featuring everything from Mediterranean Flatbreads (INR 450) to Thai Green Curry Bowl (INR 450). Top choices for mains include Kung Pao Cottage Cheese Steak (INR 475), Oven Toasted Tomato and Olive Stuffed Ravioli (INR 450), Moroccan Lamb (INR 500), and Shrimp and Bacon Risotto (INR 525). They will also be hosting a brunch on Fridays from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Comfort food

Leaping Windows is popular among book lovers owing to its basement reading room housing an impressive collection of comic books. Currently they have an outdoor setup of four socially distanced tables in addition to the indoor tables. Their menu includes comfort food favourites, Nachos (INR 300), Pork Samosa (INR 330), stir fries, burgers, pasta, and more.

Breakfast full of bagels

The Bagel Shop offers a range of bagels, bagel sandwiches, salads, appetisers, and mains. The menu’s most indulgent dishes are the Flavoured Cream Cheese Bagel Sandwich (INR 325), and Smoked Chicken Ham Sandwich (INR 419). If you crave bacon for breakfast, the Freaky Streaky Bacon Bagel (INR 419) is sure to satisfy all your cravings. The BBQ Pork Ribs with Raw Mango Slaw (INR 500) and Aragula Spaghetti (INR 400) are also recommended if you are in the mood for something heavier.

The Sassy Spoon serves an inspired menu featuring a vast number of multi-cuisine dishes, from Brown Rice Paella (INR 445) to Blackened Tenderloin Steak (INR 675). Chef’s specials include Spaghetti with a Lemon Beurre Noisette (INR 545), Korean Chili Chicken Wings (INR 385), Crunchy Cottage Cheese and Bell Peppers in House Smoked BBQ Sauce Sassywich (INR 375), and Slow Braised Sri Lankan Baby Lamb Leg (INR 695).

Middle Eastern indulgence

Known for serving authentic Middle Eastern fare, Cafe Mommy Joon is a quaint establishment in Bandra West. While the Kabob Koobideh (INR 650) cannot be missed, the Adas Polow (INR 650) and Veg Ghormeh Sabzi (INR 500) are a hit among patrons. If you have a sweet tooth, you might want to try their Baklava (INR 200).

Coffee by DiBella, serving a wide range of specials, is a regular haunt for coffee enthusiasts.  Cold Spanish Latte (INR 260), Rose Cappuccino (INR 250), Sea Salt Iced Americano (INR 250), and Signature Affogato (INR 250) are some of the interesting options here. While the Linking Road outlet has outdoor seating and is welcoming guests, it is advised to call prior to visiting other branches.
