Goan choriz pot pie
Piqued by the infinite possibilities of puff pastry, this writer was led to Hungry Cat Kitchen during a weekend doom scroll on a food app. We were happy to find that the Mahim kitchen, run by Soumitra Velkar, Subhasree Basu and Manju Velkar, delivers all the way to Santacruz East. From Thai curry to pork chop dhansak, and khao suey to ham and choriz pulao, the menu spells comfort. But what truly got us excited was the range of pot pies — butter chicken, ham and cheese, Parsi salli boti, green goddess and more.

Flaky puff pastry on top, a sweet-savoury melange of slow-cooked pork, green apples, celery and cranberry inside, the heavy-duty pot pie was the stuff of dreams. This Bengali was satiated by the meld of kosha mangsho and puff pastry, and the kaffir lime pork meal. The serving portions are perfect for two, and the pies are priced in the range of Rs 450 to Rs 550.
