Located in the vicinity of the Bombay Stock Exchange, which gets deserted post 9 pm, The Bar Terminal (TBT) is an
all-day watering hole that, we were told, is inspired by all things recycled. Stepping in, we found the interiors edgy without going overboard. The space is divided into two sections; while the al fresco area offers high bar stool seating against rustic, stained glass windows, the interiors house a cosy sofa seating for larger groups. The bar is cheery, and has been crafted from plastic and wooden vegetable crates displaying beverage bottles. We noticed illuminated old Heinz beans cans, vintage fans and chairs created from old pipes, tyres and wood. The table we picked had been designed using DVDs of Hollywood and Bollywood blockbuster films.

The food menu that largely comprises bar bites, has sections like Juggad, Nashta, Any Time Maggi and other pure vegetarian selections. Though dishes like Handvo Caprese, Idli Cupcakes, Pizza Puchkas and the Ragda Patties Shot intrigued us, we chose to play safe this time. In the mood for something cheesy, we kicked off the evening with the Mozzarella Sticks with Honey Chilly Lime Dip (Rs 295) and the Mac and Cheese Cupcakes (Rs 275). While the fried mozzarella cheese sticks were melt-in-the-mouth, we loved the fun take on the traditional Mac and Cheese Pasta which also made for perfect Instagram posts. Next, we tried the Pizza Al Vodka (Rs 455) with jalapenos, olive, bell pepper and pineapple. While the description suggested a hint of vodka, we missed it completely.
The drinks menu listed TBT signatures such as the Smoked Berry, Love and Lock and TBT — Drink At Your Own Risk priced between Rs 700 to Rs 800, which we thought, was quite steep considering the competitive market.

We opted for the Caribbean Ride (R345), made with peach schnapps, gin, coconut rum, pineapple and orange juice, served in a beaker. (Wonder why everyone serves alcohol in lab apparatus these days!) Barring the excess ice cubes, we enjoyed our tipple.

The next drink, Illusion (Rs 345) that came along with a test tube was a mix of vodka, midore, pineapple juice and Irish cream. With subtle flavours from the Irish cream, the drink was the star of the evening. We might head back to this terminal, just for this one!
