Chaat items
Veena Raman, Deputy General Manager of MP Tourism, shares, “The people of Madhya Pradesh are very warm and a hospitable lot. People invite you for lunch and dinner at the drop of a hat. Especially, in the villages, the hospitality can be quite overwhelming.
Dahi Vada
Appetisers, piping hot food, second helpings and desserts are offered to the visitor as if there is no tomorrow. Refusing any course or helping is out of the question as it is taken as an insult to the host and his kitchen.” The Rajwada Food Festival is being conducted in the city to spread awareness about the state’s culture and customs.
Churma Ladoo
During the ten-day festival, an expert team of chefs will dish out authentic Madhya Pradesh cuisine. They are specially being flown in from Madhya Pradesh to give an authentic flavour to the patrons.
Fried treats
To create a suitable ambiance, diners will be greeted by the staff dressed in local attire along with traditional music playing in the background. The décor, including the famous gates of the state and wall paintings, have been recreated keeping the theme in mind. For shoppers, Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees can be bagged at considerable
discounts.
Chef AK Sen gives a peek into the kitchen: “I have collected diverse recipes from my travels in the cities and villages of MP. One will find Meva Batti, an authentic sweet dish along with Churma Laddoo. In the main course, there will be Indra Har, Nimona and Dal Pancharangi which are the main course vegetables but lean more towards Dal as a base in them. There are plenty of options available for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.”
