The popular Maharashtrian snack Misal Pav, enjoyed by scores of Mumbaikars, bagged top honours at the Foodie Hub Awards held in London.

The accolade went to Dadar eatery Aaswad Upahar located in Shivaji Park. The dish a regular favourite of the patrons received the 'The World’s Tastiest Vegetarian Dish' award.


In operation for nearly 3 decades, Aaswad is a favourite for those who savour tasty vegetarian Maharashtrian fare. Their misal is priced at Rs 48 a plate.

Misal Pav decoded
According to the IFN food website, Missal is a spicy curry prepared with moth beans or matki and served with chopped onions, tomatoes, fresh coriander and lime along with some green and tamarind chutneys. The highlight is the farsan, which adds crunch to the dish. And, the best way to enjoy a plate of missal is by wiping it off with Mumbai’s favourite bread that is pav.
