Five underprivileged kids have come up with special recipes for a unique menu at Vedge in Lokhandwala. Starting today, till December 25, their dishes are on the menu and the proceeds will go to fund their careers
It’s the season to be merry. Staying true to the spirit of Xmas, a festival that is all about spreading warmth, Vedge, a Lokhandwala-based restaurant, turned Santa Claus for children from Angel Express, a non-government
organisation that works for underprivileged kids.

Last week, they invited five children from the NGO and gave them the reigns to create a menu for the festive season.
The menu is available from today till December 25. After a brainstorming session with Chef Sumit Ghadiyali, the kids
came up with dishes such as Kartiki’s Veggie Delight Pizza, Savitra’s Brownie, Cream and Chocolate Sauce Tower,
Rohit’s Chole Puri, Vivek’s Pani Puri Shots and Jyoti’s Cheese Pav Bhaji.
“I love pizzas as much as mathematics. For my veggie delight pizza, I chose from a variety of ingredients and
topped the dish with babycorn, capsicum and loads of cheese,” says 12-year-old Kartiki Jambhulkar.
Ten-year-old Vivek Dubey, who helped create pani puri shots, loves street food. “I told the chef that a menu without
pani puri is incomplete. So he showed me how to use a glass to serve it,” says Dubey.
During the interaction, the children discussed their career dreams. While one wanted to be a policewoman, another
wanted to be an actor.
“We will donate the proceeds we earn from this particular menu for their careers. We will also ask patrons to make donations in the form of small goodies, toys and clothes,” says Aditya Sawant, owner of Vedge.
