Apart from owning the pitch during the recent India-England Test series, cricketer Axar Patel has been charming fans with his sporty, neon shades. The ‘Axar shades’ even got a thumbs-up from business tycoon Anand Mahindra, who bought a pair and claimed that the eyewear is a lucky charm for India’s matches. Mahindra’s recent post wearing the shades set Twitter abuzz, with Patel complimenting him on the cool look.

Stylist, image consultant and personal branding expert Mihika Bhanot shares that these wraparound polarised sunglasses are a great way to beat the heat as they offer almost complete eye-area coverage. “They are usually accompanied by a pop of colours on the sides. They are broader from the top, making the face shape look wider around the temples. Those with a smaller face can avoid it as it’s likely to be uncomfortable,” she says, sharing three ways to sport the look.
Denim done right

Denim on denim or better still, a white T-shirt with denim jacket and jeans, along with strappy heels, is a fun way to experiment with wraparound polarised shades. Wear it to work, to chill with friends, to shop, travel or just look glam at any casual occasion. The look works for all body types and can marry well with different hues of polarised sunglasses; you can opt for deep blue, fluorescent pink or orange. Throw in a neon handbag or colourful nails, some blush and loads of mascara for a balanced look. Leave your hair open, or braid it on one side for a more feminine effect.
In neutral mode

Outfits in simple, neutral hues will complement the eyewear; go for green or dark blue for the shades as these colours are safer for the eyes, especially at noon. This sporty dress by actor Rakul Singh, paired with white shoes, makes for a great combination with the colourful eye gear. The pockets on either side, the puffy arms and waist-emphasis make it perfect for a day out with your girlfriends. Similar outfits can also be worn in colours such as lavender, peach, light grey, mauve, teal, lime yellow or light green to pair with the shades. A pop of colour on the lips, preferably a hint of orange or magenta, can help complete the look.
Travel in style
Vicky Kaushal
Men can opt for an oversized jacket to team with ‘Axar shades’. The red colour that actor Vicky Kaushal has chosen gives off a youthful yet powerful look when teamed with all-black T-shirt, bottoms and shoes; it helps the wearer create a taller appearance. Along with wraparound polarised sunglasses in orange-ish hues and a sporty watch, it makes for a comfortable and stylish travel outfit.
