Melodies like 'Kabhie kabhie mere dil mein' and 'Dil cheez kya hai' continue to stir the soul. Legendary composer, Mumbai’s Khayyam, who gave us these gems, turned 90 on February 18.

A fitting celebration ‘Unplugged Khayyam’ will serve as his birthday celebration at Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion this evening.

The evening will see artistes like Talat Aziz, Bhupinder Singh, Shailaja Bahel, Bela Sulakhe reprise some of Khayyam's unforgettable tunes, even as the composer will be present in the audience.
Khayyam’s music and persona has touched not only the lives of music aficionados, but also struggling artistes, with the composer pledging his entire wealth, said to be worth Rs. 10 crore, to the benefit of struggling musicians, considering the struggle and hardships he had to face during his initial years in the industry.
