Who wouldn't love to be on top of the world surrounded by nature's beauty! If, however, James Franco (think 127 Hours) scared you off rock climbing forever or your monster boss won't grant you leave, opt for the tamer version: indoor rock climbing.
The sport is a great way to stay fit, especially for those tired of the routine cardio regimes, besides being a great way to initiate oneself into the mountaineering experience. Rock climbers get to clamber up a wall fitted with small rocks jutting out at various points that serve as footholds.
Don't be intimidated by the thought of scaling a 40 feet vertical climb, you will be provided a safety harness that will protect you from nasty falls and broken bones. Still concerned? Most places offer a foam mat at the base. Centres have different walls with varying levels of difficulty.
Other than adding a fun element to your routine workout, indoor rock climbing helps strengthen and tone calf and arm muscles. It also helps sharpen concentration. And if you are planning on an adventurous trek for your next holiday, the practice will come in handy. Go on, conquer a fibreglass peak.
