Pune Chaap: Pashan Lake

Pashan Lake

The Pashan Lake is one of the oldest lakes in Pune and is a current tourist attraction. Not only that, even the locals, especially of the bird watchers’ ilk, greatly enjoy spotting a variety of birds at the lake.

Pashan Lake

One can spot several migratory birds, ranging from the gray heron, white and red lapwing to the purple moorhen and the little egret. Besides, it is quite a delight to catch a glimpse of local birds like the house crow, coot, jungle babbler, white breasted kingfisher and open billed stork.

The lake was built around 1960 and is an ideal destination for a weekend trip at any time of the year.

However, the period from June to September is considered to be the best period to drop by here.
