Says he wants to be single yet is with someone else...

Dear Diana,
It's been a little over two months since my guy broke up with me and I am still a mess and have no idea how to go on without him. He said he wanted to be single but he's with someone else now. I don't know how I'm going to cope. We were together four years, so it hurts real bad. Every day I wake up, it's like being weighed under by a ton of bricks.

Dear Friend,
With the passage of time, wounds will heal. The pain, too, shall pass. He obviously wants out and has offered a reason. Of course, you can choose not to accept that reason because the truth dictates otherwise. But you'll only make yourself miserable. It will be difficult to forget that you invested four years in the relationship with this jerk and he offered a poor reason for the break-up. But you have to get that this isn't your fault. He walked out because he wanted to. Don't punish yourself for this.

Am in love with a complete jerk

Dear Diana,

I am in love with a complete jerk who takes and takes and never thinks of anyone but himself. Even his family is scared of him. How do I build a wall around my heart so that he cannot get through?

Name withheld

Dear Friend,
Why is his own family scared of him? What has he done to make you want to stop loving him? More importantly, why are you in love with a "complete jerk"? Understand now that to truly decide, you two will have to spend time apart and you have to assess why it is you want out and tell him when you have decided.

Falling for a girl already in online relationship

Dear Diana,
My love life, while not the most exciting, is pretty stable. My last relationship lasted over a year. I don't date too often, but when I do, it's usually long-lasting and serious. I've liked a girl for a while now. I denied it and cast it aside as just a crush.

But over the two months, I realised that I really do like this girl. Our friendship grew stronger. Trouble is, she has been in au00a0 relationship with a guy she met online, who she has never met in real life, for two years. I want to be with her more than ever, but I'm afraid of risking her happiness and our friendship. I'm thinking I should bide my time until my chance comes. Should I wait or just tell her?

Name withheld

Dear Friend,

You should tell her. Consider that you cannot say you are in a relationship with someone if you have never met them in person. She is having a relationship with something that is fictional. She does not really know this guy or what he is really like.

Anybody can say anything over the net. You do not fall in love with somebody until you have met them and spent some quality time with them. I don't think you will be risking her happiness I think it would be good for her if you told her how you feel and it may get her thinking about what she is missing out on. So tell her how you feel and just keep it casual and say you thought she deserved to know the truth.
