I want to return to my job

Updated on: 31 August,2012 06:20 AM IST  |
Dear Diana |

Dear Diana, I was working with a reputed bank before getting married to this guy chosen by my family. I won't say I was very happy with my job but I liked to go to work and earn my own money.

I want to return to my job

That stopped completely after my wedding. Soon after our marriage, I was lost in a different world which consisted of my husband, his parents and our little son. All this while, I never once missed my office or my occupation. Perhaps I was too busy to sit and ponder. Now I want things to be different as my in-laws can help me take care of my kid while I can go ahead and pursue my career in the financial sector. Is it a good idea?

Dear Maleeha,
Yes, it is a good idea to get back to work considering that you have support system in your in-laws. There aren’t many who try to break the mould and get out of their domestic cocoon. But having said that, it’d be nice if you take your husband into confidence and make sure that they adjust to the change in timings and lifestyle, too. Going back to office may seem empowering and emancipating now but once you get going, you’ll realise that it’s a distinct world altogether. But since you’ve already been to that part of the world, you must have an idea. Challenges will keep rising and it’ll be up to you to stick with the change or not. Whatever, you need to go out first to really understand the difference you can make to your life and your family’s.u00a0
