The Truck Dumper Owners Association has done excellent social service during Corona.
There is no denying the fact that money plays a vital role in making both ends meet for all of us. However, this is not the case for truck drivers in India. An average truck driver earns anywhere between 15k to 20k per month. The worst part is it is never paid on time. Considering their deteriorating health due to prolonged working and spending more on food and medicines, the money would shrink to single digits at the end of the month. Due to this, most of the drivers get demotivated to work and leave their jobs.
Many demands of truck and dumper owners are pending with the government. Government should stop taking toll on highways as the same is making a big dent in our profits. The rate of diesel should also be subsidized for goods vehicles,” he said.
Rane, said, “The Union government has cruelly hiked third party insurance, which is for damage of third party vehicle in accidents. This decision does not make sense.”
In a letter to The Hon’ble Transport Minister, The Govt. Of India, New Delhi Shri Nitin Gadkari The Truck Dumper owners Association has requested the minister,” Our members have brought to our notice that certain rules and instructions have been issued to truck, dumpers, tempos owners drivers to the effect that there will be no entry for their vehicles within the area and jurisdiction of Mumbai & Thane during the time period 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m to 9.00 p.m. Because of this no entry rules the owners and drivers of many kinds of vehicles state above are suffering irreparable loss and damages. They are losing their daily income because of no entry rules during the peak hours of business.
Many of our members have purchased their vehicle by borrowing the amount from various banks and financial institutions on heavy interest. As per the rules of the borrowing they have to pay EMI every month as per agreement and terms and conditions of loan.
Practically and virtually the no entry rules are enforceable for 8 to 10 hours. The traffic police officers are taking undue advantage of these rules and imposing fine on the poor drivers and owners. You are aware that during the no entry rules timing our member can very easily do transport business and may earn near about 4500 for transporting in between Bandra to Chinchoti. During such one trip they have to spend for helpers, toll naka, diesel, maintenance etc. and after spending all these amount they save a very negligible amount. However our members are deprived off this negligible amount also because of no entry rules imposed on them.
It is also brought to our notice that all this drivers and owners are operating their vehicles for local trips in between Mumbai – Thane and vice a versa. Because of these no entry rules they will become indebted and will not be able to repay the loan amount. Therefore the statutory authorities are requested to kindly look into the matter on top priority basis and relax no entry rules by allowing such vehicles to operate locally without any rules about no entry. Lastly but not the least we further request that the procedure and practice of imposing fine on mobile shall be withdrawn and cancelled and the system of receipt of the fine shall be restored back.”
