WhatsApp for Android beta, recently added support for searching GIFs within the app and also increased the media-sharing limit from 10 to 30. The GIF support was previously rolled out for iOS.
iOS users can edit GIFs to add emojis, text or trimmed before sending. Users can also 'star' their favourite GIFs in order to quickly access them when required.
These features are currently available for WhatsApp beta version 2.17.6. The GIF support for iOS users, was rolled out in November. But, emojis can be sent and received by Android users, only if they have been stored in the device.
Now, thanks to this new feature, WhatsApp users can access the Giphy library (or TENOR in some cases), and send them to friends. The emoji icon next to the text bar can be tapped, when the new GIF icon appears. It's available in the bottom of the smiley window.
